We would like to thank John and Tashia Morgridge and the Charlotte Geyer Foundation for their generous support of our research. Without private donations and support, research breakthroughs such as iPS cells would not have been possible.
Private donations give researchers the opportunity to explore high risk / high reward projects that are not easily fundable through traditional mechanisms. Many of our high reward projects, such as iPS cells, were initially privately funded but the data generated from these projects enabled us to successfully compete for several federally funded projects.
