About the Town Center

Explore. Engage. Discover.

Your experience will be limited only by your imagination at the Town Center in the Discovery Building.

Conceived as a vibrant gathering place, the Town Center welcomes campus and community members for events that celebrate science and creativity. More structured outreach programs and workshops offer participants the opportunity to connect with scientific topics ranging from regenerative biology to rapid prototyping. And casual visitors are always invited to dine at the Town Center’s food venues, which feature regionally grown and freshly prepared foods.

The Town Center’s design is as innovative as the scientific community it serves and visitors will find ample opportunity for hands-on learning as they explore the discovery niches, teaching labs and interactive displays.

Through dynamic partnerships with the private sector, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation and UW–Madison will use the Town Center to accelerate the process of technology transfer and advance the campus strategic plan for undergraduate education and scholarly achievement.

In producing a calendar of compelling events, conferences and activities, the Town Center serves as a venue for programs with a scientific component that emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration or that focus on the interface between the university and the public or private sector. Events that offer a unique creative contribution also are intended to become part of the lively and intriguing mix.

The Town Center is a place to gather, share ideas, and celebrate science, creativity and exploration.

The Town Center is a place that inspires collaboration, creates connections and launches new avenues of inquiry at the intersection of science, culture, business and society.
