Best Graduate Student Paper Award
Congratulations to Mr. Xiaofei Sun who was selected to receive the Best Graduate Student Paper award from the Injection Molding Division at the 2012 Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Annual Technical Conference (ANTEC), Orlando, FL, April 1-4, 2012 for his paper entitled "Investigation of Supercritical Fluid-Laden Pellet Injection Molding Foaming Technology (SIFT)." Mission
Stem cells hold great promise for replacing diseased and damaged tissues, but only if they can be encouraged to actually grow as tissue. Using biologically compatible polymer and composite materials, BIONATES builds structures, also called scaffolds, upon which therapeutic cells can grow and adopt useful forms in the body.
Research Goals
• Create a variety of scaffolding materials
that apply to many different cell types and
sites within the human body
• Develop cost-effective, mass-production
methods for making tissue scaffolds
